Hot Lemon and Honey with Ginger

Hot Lemon and Honey with Ginger

Cold and flu season is upon us. Having said that, this is a great morning drink with breakfast to help build up your immune system to prepare you for some of the germs you’ll be exposed to. This is my favorite go to when I feel as though I’m coming down with a cold, or if I want to build up my immune system to help prevent one. Not only is this great for medicinal reasons, but let’s face it, sometimes I just drink it cause I love the taste!

It’s very important to make sure you get a good quality honey. You don’t want to get just anything that says honey on the label. Some honey is cut with corn syrup, or other sugars. Others will say “pure honey”, and even though they are not cut with anything else, they are so refined they have no nutritional value to it. Raw & unfiltered honey if you’re on a budget will work. Manuka honey is even better, but is quite pricey. Let’s go over some the medicinal values-

  • Lemon- Vitamin C as an immune booster
  • Honey- Soothes coughs, and sore throats.
  • Ginger- Aids in detoxification, soothes upset stomach and nausea and high in antioxidants.
